Meet Sarah Sevcik Tummala
What brought you or led you to TerraLuna? How did you get here?
My time with TerraLuna began in 2016 when I served as an intern on a developmental evaluation project exploring the juvenile justice system in the state of Nebraska. The work included hiring an Artist-in-Residence who worked with the youth involved in the system, and our reporting incorporated the youth’s artistic expression of their experience within the system - poems, drawings, and other visual arts. I found the project’s focus of highlighting the youth experience, especially through an artistic and creative lens, as refreshing, inclusive, and innovative.
Why has it become your evaluation/facilitation home? Why did you commit, stay, choose to become a member? What about why we choose to work this way?
My mother has always told me, “It’s not just what you do, but who you work with (and for) that’s important.” She’s right. I’ve learned that I’m at my best when I’m able to do work I find meaningful and useful while working with people I respect and trust. I’m inspired by the members and employees of TerraLuna, who approach their work with integrity, humility, and a strong desire to deeply listen and make the world a better place. I can bring my whole self to my work, with my strengths being honored and being encouraged and supported in working on my areas for improvement and growth. We are a collaborative community, and I feel lucky to call my colleagues friends.
